Why He died for Us

"But God demonstrates His own love love for us in this: While we were still sinner, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

It would seem Lord,
When You have been our dwelling lace
In all generations . . .
When You have guided us
Undergirded us
And enveloped us with love . . .
When You are Bread for the hungry
Rest for the weary
Strength for the powerless
And Joy unspeakable . . .
It would seem Lord
That we would have more to offer
Than lust
Greed
Hatred
War . . .

But that's precisely why
You came to die;
In the hearts of men
Things are not as they seem.
